Luke 24:27

27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

John 5:39

39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

1 Corinthians 10:1-4

1Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

2And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

4And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. followed...: or, went with them

Hebrews 4:14-15

14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

On the road to Emmaus the risen Lord opened the Scriptures and showed two travellers Himself in all of them — beginning at Moses and all the prophets. For the Old Testament is full of shadows that fall toward Him. Adam, the head of a race; Isaac, the beloved son with the wood on his back; the Passover lamb whose blood turns away wrath; the serpent of brass lifted on a pole; the rock that gave water in the desert; Joseph, rejected by his own and raised to save them; Boaz the kinsman-redeemer; the great High Priest. Search the Scriptures, said Jesus — they are they which testify of me.
